For many years I ran my own business, a baby wear shop. Twelve months ago, when the lease expired, I closed it. My health wasn't good and I had family problems. Nevertheless, after I closed it, I missed it, and I missed the income. In February 2002, when I applied for a Centrelink payment, I was told I could do voluntary work instead of looking for a job. This sounded like a good idea as jobs aren't easy to get once you get older so I went to the Volunteer Resource Centre and they told me about a volunteer position to re-organise the library and information resources of the Cooinda Family Support Group Inc.
