When Thea Calzoni first suggested the title for the book that we were planning to write, it immediately felt comfortable, representative of families who are part of Cooinda and an acknowledgement of the road that Cooinda has travelled and where the organisation is today.

Why write a book about Cooinda? As Cooinda has reached a period of considerable change, I believe that it is of paramount importance to not only document the early years from an historical perspective but also more importantly to give acknowledgement and recognition to the many families without whom Cooinda would not exist today and the importance of those lives to the Border Region. Some of those stories are reflected here.
